To have an adventure like this, I have prepared myself in many ways, and continue my training and education as often as possible.   In order to do this work I need to be prepared in season and out of season; to correct, rebuke and encourage -- with great patience and careful instruction.

I was able to travel over the winter holiday, and while on vacation I took a class in Situational Leadership, which was surprisingly helpful! I learned so much more than I was expecting. I was able to look back on past leadership roles I have had and realize what I could have done differently to make things go better. I faced the hard truth that, although I have always been a successful leader, I have rarely been an effective one. The difference lies between the long and short term results. I feel better prepared for the leadership positions I will hold in the future, and I also feel more equipt to know how to communicate with those leading me.

I had a great time of growing during this trip. Both from the classes I attended, and from those people who have the valuable life experiences that I can learn so much from. And I won't say that I didn't have quite a bit of fun along the way!

I have had the privilege of hearing some amazing teachers and speakers over the past few months. As I was educated on many different subject and topics, I became more and more prepared to face whatever lies in my future. And I feel like the biggest benefit from this time of training is my growing confidence that all things will be accomplished that need to be accomplished.  I have learned so much, but at the same time, I feel less pressure on myself to rely on my own knowledge and understanding. It's not my job to make everything work out how I think it's supposed to. Instead, I have found a new level of trust that comes from reading the book and believing deep down that I don't carry the burden of controlling other peoples' responses or choices in life. My responsibility is only to be obedient. Wow! That takes so much pressure off of me, and allows me to enjoy this stage of my life for whatever it has been planned to be. I will never forget these two months of learning that I have gone through, which I hope has changed me forever - in knowledge, friendships, and trust!

My friends in Oklahoma sent me off with a memorable "good bye."
Knowing they will remember me
helps me feel more prepared for whatever I may face.
